Core Ontologies for Safe Autonomous Driving
نویسندگان
چکیده
Representing the knowledge of driving environments in a structured machine-readable format is necessary for safe autonomous driving. We use ontologies to represent the knowledge of maps, driving paths, and driving environments to improve safety for smart vehicles. In this paper, we introduce core ontologies that are used for developing Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. The ontologies can be reused and extended for constructing Knowledge Base for smart vehicles as well as for implementing different types of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.

Automotive User Interfaces in the Age of Automation (Dagstuhl Seminar 16262)
The next big change in the automotive domain will be the move towards automated and semiautomated driving. We can expect an increasing level of autonomous driving in the coming years, resulting in new opportunities for the car as an infotainment platform when standard driving tasks will be automated. This change also comes with a number of challenges to automotive user interfaces. Core challeng...
متن کاملA Philosophy for Developing Trust in Self‐ Driving Cars
For decades, our lives have depended on the safe operation of automated mechanisms around and inside us. The autonomy and complexity of these mechanisms is increasing dramatically. Autonomous systems such as self-driving cars rely heavily on inductive inference and complex software, both of which confound traditional software-safety techniques that are focused on amassing sufficient confirmator...
متن کاملToward Safe and Human-like Motion Generation for Autonomous Driving
1. Project Overview In order to drive safely and efficiently, autonomous vehicles need to understand the behavior of others, predict their future motions and plan desirable motions which are safe and human-like to execute. In this project, we tackled motion prediction and planning together as a motion generation problem to achieve accurate comprehension of others, as well as safe and human-like...
متن کاملOntology Merging for Federated Ontologies on the Semantic Web
One of the core challenges for the Semantic Web is the aspect of decentralization. Local structures can be modeled by ontologies. However, in order to support global communication and knowledge exchange, mechanisms have to be developed for integrating the local systems. We adopt the database approach of autonomous federated database systems and consider an architecture for federated ontologies ...
متن کاملA Mixed-Logical-Dynamical model for Automated Driving on highways
We propose a hybrid decision-making framework for safe and efficient autonomous driving of selfish vehicles on highways. Specifically, we model the dynamics of each vehicle as a Mixed-Logical-Dynamical system and propose simple driving rules to prevent potential sources of conflict among neighboring vehicles. We formalize the coordination problem as a generalized mixed-integer potential game, w...
